Bright Idea: Wear Orange When in the Woods

| | Comments (0)
Don Hendershot, who writes the "Naturalist's Corner" column for the Smoky Mountain News, has this excellent tip for hikers, fishermen and backpackers: it's hunting season, so wear an orange hat or other orange clothing when outdoors. You don't want your movements to be mistaken for those of prey.

A special tint called "blaze orange" is required by law to be worn by hunters. Caps and vests in blaze orange can be purchased at sporting goods and hunting supply stores and some general retail stores.
